The Industry Road Safety Alliances are developed by the Commission’s Partnership program to focus the efforts of main industry bodies and local and state government agencies on working collaboratively to improve road safety in their region. There are currently five Industry Road Safety Alliances operating in WA regions: South West, MidWest, Pilbara, Goldfields-Esperance and the Great Eastern Highway in the Wheatbelt. The development of an Industry Alliance in the Kimberley region is currently underway. All have the primary goal of improving road safety and reducing road trauma within their own regions.
Each Alliance has the potential to make positive contributions in the four cornerstones of Roads and Roadsides, Speeds, Road Use and Vehicle Safety.
The Goldfields/Esperance Industry Road Safety Alliance (GEIRSA) was formed in 2015 to eliminate death and serious injury in the region.
The Great Eastern Highway (GEHRSA) focuses on addressing road safety issues and reduce road trauma along the Great Eastern Highway.
The Pilbara Industry Road Safety Alliance (PIRSA) was formed in 2011 to eliminate death and serious injury
in the region.
The Industry Road Safety Alliance South West addresses industry-related risks between Greater Bunbury, Collie, Boddington and Pinjarra.
The Mid West Alliance (MWIRSA) focuses on safety for all users, local industry groups, with a particular focus on the Heavy Vehicle Industry.
An Alliance for the East Kimberley region is in the early stages of development.
