The Great Eastern Highway Road Safety Alliance (GEHRSA) was formed in 2016 in response to the Wheatbelt Safety Review (2015). The Wheatbelt region was identified in this review as over-represented in road trauma statistics for an extended period.
GEHRSA focuses on identifying and addressing road safety issues and reduce road trauma along the Great Eastern Highway (GEH) by working together to inform visitors, workforces and communities that use the GEH. The Alliance is currently developing their Strategic Action Plan.
Current members include Shire of Westonia, Shire of Cunderdin, Brookfield Rail, TyreSafe Australia, Cliff’s Natural Resources, School Drug Education and Road Aware (SDERA), RAC, WA Road Transport Association (WARTA), Livestock and Rural Transport Association WA, along with local government representation from Main Roads, WALGA’s RoadWise and WA Police.
