Grants available for National Road Safety Week 2019 events
Community groups have until 8 March 2019 to apply for a Road Safety Community Grant for road safety events held during National Road Safety Week 2019.
National Road Safety Week (NRSW) 2019 runs between 6-12 May.
NRSW is an annual initiative by Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group in memory of Sarah Frazer who was killed alongside a tow truck driver in the emergency lane of a New South Wales highway in 2012.
Western Australian community groups are encouraged to participate in NRSW 2019 by applying for grants of up to $1000 to promote road safety messaging and supporting policies at their event.
More than 1,200 lives are lost on Australian roads every year, and NRSW 2019 is an opportunity for Commonwealth, State and Local Governments, road safety organisations, campaigners and businesses to shine a light on this deadly issue, display yellow ribbons honouring those we have lost and pledge to make the roads safer for everyone.
Applicants should identify road safety issues in their area and consult with the Road Safety Commission Community Grants Officer to discuss the proposed road safety event.
The event should focus on National Road Safety Week and the relevant themes and have the potential to increase knowledge and change attitudes and behaviours to improve road safety.
Applications for Road Safety Community Grants for NRSW 2019 have closed on 8 March 2019.
