Kiss, Click and Drive a reality for 2019 school year
An idea from a Year 3 student at Dianella Heights Primary School to improve road safety among her school mates has become a reality.
Last year, Alanna Shilo noticed some parents were failing to buckle up their children before driving away from the school pick up zone.
Alanna suggested to her teachers that renaming the Kiss and Drive area the Kiss, Click and Drive would serve as a reminder to ensure all students were safely restrained before driving home.
The idea was put to school staff and students by Principal Peter Jakimowiez at an assembly, with Alanna receiving a standing ovation from her peers.
This week, as Dianella Heights Primary Schools staff and students returned for the new school year, they were greeted by new signage in the pickup-drop off area thanks to the City of Stirling.
The Kiss, Click and Drive bays have been clearly marked by the City of Stirling and will act as a reminder to parents to ensure every person in the vehicle is appropriately restrained before making the journey home.
