City of Vincent prepares for lower urban speed limit trial
Drivers and residents in the southern suburban streets of the City of Vincent will notice the installation of new speed limit signs on residential streets in the coming weeks.
The signs are being erected as the City of Vincent prepares for the commencement of a two-year trial of a 40km/h speed limit on residential streets in an area bounded by Charles Street, Vincent Street, Newcastle Street and the Swan River.
The trial begins on 29 April 2019.
The State Government, Road Safety Council and Road Safety Commission will provide ongoing support for the trial that aims to improve the safety of residents.
“I am delighted that the City of Vincent has the opportunity to trial lower urban speed limits for the safety and amenity of their neighbourhood streets,” said Road Safety Council Chairman Iain Cameron.
“I expect requests from other local councils who similarly are keen to improve safety and interaction between road users, so people in their local communities can experience and enjoy the benefits that people living in other cities and countries experience and value.”
