A harmonious ‘Blessing of the Roads’
28 Mar 2017
Road Safety Minister Michelle Roberts and Road Safety Commissioner Kim Papalia have attended a unique Blessing of the Roads event in the lead up to Easter 2017.
This year, the Cities of Stirling, Joondalup and Swan combined the traditional blessing of the roads for safe driving over the Easter break with the annual Harmony Week celebrations in Mirrabooka.
Mr Papalia said the event, hosted by the City of Stirling, was a timely opportunity to reach out to a cross section of the community.
“The City of Stirling has encompassed Harmony Week, the Blessing of the Roads and a road safety expo to engage with as many members of the community as possible,” said Mr Papalia.
It is imperative new drivers in Australia are aware of our road rules, and experienced drivers are reacquainted with any rule changes or new laws, to ensure safer roads within our community.
Road Trauma Support WA Manager Ryan Fernie was also on hand to spread awareness of the services provided by RTS WA to anyone impacted by road trauma in Western Australia.
