Cycling safety education just a click away
15 Jul 2017
The Road Safety Commission is committed to improving the safety of those who are vulnerable on WA roads, through the education of all road users.
Three ‘Best Practice Guide’ booklets have been released to the public, to encourage cyclists, drivers and other road users to share the road responsibly.
The booklets have been prepared and produced by peak WA cycling body WestCycle with funds from the Road Trauma Trust Account, through a $52,500 road safety community grant.
The three different guides offer road safety advice on the best practices for:
- Riding safely on your own;
- Riding safely in a group; and
- Driving safely with bike riders.
To 30 June 2017, three cyclists had lost their lives on WA roads, the equivalent number as the total number of cyclist deaths in 2016.
The ‘Best Practice Guides’ are available for download from the WestCycle website or hard copy versions can be picked up from selected bicycle clubs and outlets.
